Foggy Weekend in Bemidji, early February 2012
Remember the thick fog we had last week here in the Bemidji area? Well after getting home from school Thursday, I took a few hours to go out and photograph the fog and ice. The contrast between sky and snow was incredibly low. As dusk arrived the wind calmed down and it was incredibly peaceful in the woods above the lake. A cross country skier past on the trail as I was taking photos and we both exchanged a "Beautiful out here isn't it?" Grab a cup of hot tea or coffee and enjoy these "cold" images from last week.
Lake Bemidji Evening
Using my telephoto lens I compressed the scene of a lone fish house and the evening fog rolling on to the lake. The late evening sun caused everything to glow orange for a few magic minutes!
Twilight, windy twilight.
It wasn't very cold when I took this photo, in the upper 20's, but the air was damp and the wind was blowing. The snow was sweeping across the ice and snow underneath this beautiful sunset on Lake Bemidji in late January.
